While John Denver was singing in the 70’s at the top of the charts as a male, Karen Carpenter was singing in the 70’s at the top of the charts as a female. These two had such unique voices and marvelous ways of singing that they sold record album after record album.
But Karen struggled throughout her adult life with anorexia nervosa, a food disorder that ultimately took her life when she had just turned 33. Gone was the only vocalist I’ve ever heard that made “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” sound sexy!
