Matthew 4:23-5:3 – The Be Attitudes: The poor in spirit
Ray continues his Bible study in Matthew by explaining what the above verses have to do with us today. One question Ray will answer is how it can be a very good thing for a person to be low in spirit. Jesus said when you are in that condition you are “blessed”.
Matthew 4:23-5:3New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Ministry in Galilee
23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues andproclaiming the [a]gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs,[b]epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them. 25 Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.
The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes
5 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the [c]mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 2 He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
3 “[d]Blessed are the [e]poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
