Don’t Do as I Do, Do as I Say — That is the mantra coming out of the Imperial Palace on the Potomac. We’ve all heard of First Lady Michelle Obama’s purge of public school vending machines. The feds have ordered schools across the land to have no sugary snacks in their vending machines with more than 200 calories. But Voila! A vending machine in the White House has Honey Buns with a whopping 590 calories! With 17 grams of saturated fat and 30 grams of sugar. Is this not a great country, or what?




President Sends 3,000 Troops to Africa – This week the President announced he will send 3,000 U. S. troops to Africa to help protect the African people from the fatal Ebola virus. Question: Why can’t he send 3,000 troops to our border with Mexico to protect the American people?




Congress Adjourns Again — They returned two weeks ago from a five-week vacation. They worked eight days and must have been worn out. So they went home again. You may recall that Congress works only 36 weeks a year and each draws $286,000 in salary and benefits. Do the math and you see they make $7,944 per week or $1,134 per day. We Americans are a bunch of suckers to allow that to continue.




Rap Music, Misogyny and the NFL


     Americans were shocked when we saw a video of all-pro running back Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens hit his fiancée Janay Palmer in the face with his fist and knock her unconscious. The incident took place in the elevator at the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The video also shows him dragging her unconscious out of the elevator to the carpeted Casino hallway.


     Then there are other cases of violence against women. Jonathan Dwyer of the Arizona Cardinals and Greg Hardy of the Carolina Panthers also have been charged.


     The NFL suspended these players — and rightly so. Violence against women must not be tolerated in the NFL or anywhere else in this land.


     Their actions are indefensible. But there is a causal relationship in the incidents in which all Americans share some blame.


     Black athletes grow up in a culture of Rap music. From the time they are old enough to understand until they reach the pinnacle of success as an NFL stars, they hear the Rap music that glorifies cop killings and recklessly seducing women.


     A large segment of Rap is misogynistic — hatred, mistrust and mistreatment of women. Hence, their lyrics describe women as “hoes” or whores and “bi*ches.”


     Here are some of the lyrics:

     CommentRap music is one of the phenomena of our times. Millions of teenagers — black and white — listen to it for hours each day.


     President and Michelle Obama invited several Rappers to the White House to perform including Common and Ludicris whose  vulgar songs are laced with profanity. Why would the President welcome that kind of depravity into the White House and what kind of message does that send to America’s young people?


     Hence, in perspective, these black NFL football players, who are at the very apex of physical strength, may have listened to thousands of hours of rap music that said all kinds of nasty things about women.


     Unbelievably, the nihilists (who do not believe in traditional morals) and the hedonists (who believe pleasure is the most important thing in life) have been at the forefront of breaking down all moral barriers in this land. However, the feminist leadership — who want to do away with all moral parameters — were the first ones to cry out against Ray Rice and the others.


     What we have here is hypocrisy to the nth power — the people who helped create the mess we’re in — like TV anchors and liberal politicians, federal courts and newspaper columnists — are the first ones to vilify the young men who are the products of a society they helped create.


     We all must share some of the blame for allowing vulgar, nasty, filthy rap music that glorifies murdering cops and soldiers and depraved acts against women to be on TV, radio and in concerts all across the land — even in the White House.  




$22 Trillion for War on Poverty — and Counting


     Back in January of 1964, President Lyndon Johnson proclaimed, “This administration today, here and now, declares unconditional war on poverty in America.”


     This week the U. S. Census Bureau reported that since that time, WE THE PEOPLE have spent $22 trillion on anti-poverty programs. These figures do not include Social Security and Medicare.


     That is three times the cost of all U. S. military wars since the American Revolution, according to the Daily Signal.


     “Yet progress against poverty…has been minimal, and in terms of President Johnson’s main goal of reducing the ’causes’ rather than the mere ‘consequences’ of poverty, the War on Poverty has failed completely,” the Signal points out. “In fact, a significant portion of the population is now less capable of self-sufficiency than it was when the War on Poverty began.”


     According to the Census, around 14 percent of Americans are still poor and the present poverty rate is about the same as in 1967 a few years after the program began. Actually, Census data shows poverty has gotten worse over the last 40 years.



Sheriffs: Border “Spiraling Out of Control” 


     Sheriffs along the U. S. border with Mexico have issued a warning that the attempt to control illegal aliens is out of control. 


     A coalition of five sheriffs’ organizations in the Southwest recently prepared a three-page document that calls on the federal government to resist “outright amnesty” for the aliens in this country illegally.


     The document calls on the feds to increase funding for border security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement removal programs.


     “The immigration crisis has overwhelmed the capabilities of U. S. Customs and Border Protection and all the federal agencies attempting to assist in the efforts to secure our borders,” according to the statement which was approved by the Western States Sheriffs’ Association and the Texas Border Sheriffs’ Coalition, the Southwestern Border Sheriff’s Coalition, the New Mexico Sheriffs’ Association and the National Sheriff’s Association.




Increase in Illegal Aliens Arrested for Sex Crimes


     The Tucson, Arizona, Sector Border Patrol has arrested seven illegal aliens in the past two weeks for sex crimes, according to Breitbart News. All seven had been previously deported back to Mexico but returned to this land.


     “Rape, aggravated sexual abuse of a child, and soliciting or engaging in child prostitution were the prior charges against three of the men, who came from Mexico. Two of the men, who hailed from Guatemala, had convictions for lewd and lascivious acts with children under 14.”


     Others were convicted of assault, battery, voluntary manslaughter, aggravated domestic violence, kidnapping and using a deadly weapon.


     Meanwhile, Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio area in the last month arrested five convicted sex offenders in this land illegally and they report that such arrests have increased dramatically.


     “This year we’ve already apprehended 26 (illegal alien) sex offenders in the Del Rio Sector,” a spokesperson said.


     Comment: This is really nothing new. The Reporthas repeatedly warned that numbers of the illegals have been charged with sexual crimes. Yet often they are either sent back to their native land — then with ease return to this land — or placed in federal prisons then released as were 39,000 other illegal criminals earlier this year.


     This amounts to gross negligence on the part of our President who swore an oath to protect the people of the United States. Yet he is doing nothing to control the murderers, sex offenders, thieves, drug smugglers and others coming across our border.





Healthcare Update: More Trouble in River City


     A new survey of doctors reveals that 46 percent give President Obama’s healthcare law a “D” or an “F” while 25 percent give it an “A” or a “B,” according to the Washington Examiner. The findings were based on responses from 20,000 U. S. doctors.


     That portends more trouble for the elected officials and bureaucrats on the Potomac.


     The survey — conducted by the Physicians Foundation — revealed the doctors are greatly concerned about the vast amount of bureaucracy that has been added to their profession because of the new healthcare law.


     Comments from the doctors included such statements as “get the government out of healthcare” and “repeal Obamacare.”


     One doctor wrote health reform would be better served by removing many thousands of pages of laws and bureaucrats rather than adding many thousands of pages of laws and bureaucrats.


     Another said, “The system is broken and…I am tired of being used, abused and lied to. Has anyone here woken up to the fact that we are always the last ones to be considered in the equation of change?” 


(This is Ray commenting: Speaking for my wife, Georgia, and me – we have lost our doctor because of Obamacare. He has decided to begin a pay-as-you-go method rather than accepting any insurance payments. That would cost us 180 dollars a month to continue with him as our doctor. We have called around and discovered that no other doctor in our area is accepting our insurance either. So, as seniors we are without any doctor at all, thanks to Obamacare.)




An Evening With Justice Clarence Thomas


     Bill Keith writes: The past Tuesday evening my wife Vivian Marie and I enjoyed a delightful evening listening to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. He was the featured speaker at the University of Texas-Tyler.


     Justice Thomas was clever and at times humorous and the large crowd of people loved it. He bragged on some of his close friends who live in Texas and seemed right at home with the enthusiastic crowd.


     It was a wonderful event. Justice Thomas — who faced a friendly, cheering crowd of several thousand who gave him several standing ovations — kept me on the edge of my seat as he discussed his background (heavily influence by racial injustice). He also spoke of his close relationship with his wife, his career on the bench of the Supreme Court and his love for the U. S. Constitution.


     During his speech he warned of constitutional ignorance. He said most young people have taken time to read the directions for how to use  smart phones but have never read the Constitution.


     According to Thomas, we Americans love our country, our freedoms, our liberty, and the structure of government. “And yet we’ve never even read the document.”


     He also touched on the subject of race relations: “I’ve grown up under segregation…spent 30 years in segregated schools. I know how complicated race relations are and how difficult they are.”


     Thomas, who was born and grew up in the black community of Pin Point, Georgia, near Savannah, is a direct descendant of American slaves.


     He acknowledges this country is not perfect but believes is it perfectible. “We may not agree on how it’s (to be) perfected, but it’s ours to perfect and not to destroy. Our Constitution is not perfect, but name me a better one.”


     He said he gets along very well with the other members of the high court. “I disagree with my colleagues, but they are not disagreeable people. I disagree with the approach they take to the Constitution, but I bare no bounds toward them. I don’t know how you can work with people and treat them as though they are the enemy.”


     When he concluded his speech, he received another standing ovation.


     Comment: I learned so much from Justice Thomas. He encouraged all of us to stand by the Constitution, to make it work, for it is not a document only for the wealthy and elite, it is one that guarantees our basic rights in a free democracy. A strict constitutional conservative, he is a great scholar who believes the Constitution says what it means and means what it says.


     He said the Constitution was written to protect the people of this country and guarantees them freedoms including religion, speech, free press, free assembly, the right to keep and bear arms, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure and so forth.


     Justice Thomas knows there are powerful voices in this land — including President Obama — who want to rewrite the Constitution. But the Justice asks the right question: What will replace it and who will write it?


     Our Constitution is neither democrat nor republican, independent nor libertarian. It’s for the protection of the people. May it always be so.




Commentary


Obama on Immigration — Smoke and Mirrors


     There’s insanity on the horizon. It’s called amnesty for millions of illegal aliens; aliens who break the law whenever they come across the border into this land. But no one enforces that law.


     Some say that it’s “crazy” for President Obama to grant amnesty to some five million aliens already in this land. But, in my opinion, the President is “crazy like a fox.” He knows exactly what he’s doing.


     The President has hypnotized the Congress, the news media, and a large segment of the American people in his quest to redistribute wealth in this land. His agenda is right on target. With millions more aliens in this land, the rich and other wage earners will have to pay more taxes to pay for them. That is exactly what the President is doing and doing it very well.


     A few weeks ago we all were deeply concerned over the hordes of illegal children coming across our border with Mexico. By the end of next year, observers believe that number will reach 250,000.


     But the President has done nothing to solve the problem. Large numbers of the children are still coming across the border.


     The President likes it. He knows the American people have short memories so he just waits, does nothing, and goes on to with his personal agenda.


     Right now there are 29 courts where judges hear the illegals’ cases and determine what to do with them. Right now these courts have a backlog of 400,000 cases — that’s people waiting for their day in court. It will take two years to hear all these cases.


     That means that as soon a new aliens set foot on U. S. soil, they may expect to live here for four or five years before they will ever be deported, if at all.


     The President has vowed to unilaterally to grant amnesty to some five million illegals. When that happens, it will send a message loud and clear to millions of others in Mexico and Central America to come to this land. That will change the social, educational and political landscape in this land that will last 100 years IF the world lasts that long.
