Dean Jones as Saint John in Exile

I’ve been reading a chapter a day from the book of John to start the morning right. So what about this apostle John who wrote the books of John, first second and third John, and Revelation?

We know he traveled with Christ from the beginning of Christ’s ministry in the waters of baptism.

We know that John was one of the three disciples who saw Jesus transfigured and shining brighter than a million noonday suns.

We know that from the cross, Jesus told John to take care of His mother as if she were John’s own mother.

We know that John was the only one of the original eleven disciples who lived past the age of 100.

We know through historical documents of the first century that the Gnostics did try to kill John at an earlier age by boiling him in water, but he just lounged in that scalding water as if he was in a refreshing bathtub.

We know that John was exiled to the island of Patmos at an age close to 100 where his enemies expected him to die. Instead when there the Holy Spirit dictated to him in sight as well as word, the entire book of Revelation.

We know that John’s very last words when he did die was “Little children, love one another.”

Here’s Christian actor Dean Jones in his magnificent performance of “Saint. John In Exile”. This may be very close to what it was really like to be John receiving the book of Revelation on that terrible island. –Ray
