Murders in Israel and at a hamburger cookout in quiet Pennsylvania. Iran and North Korea flex their missiles. Isis has been hacked. McDonald’s keeps teenagers away in England. And a story that may bug you. Ray has it all. Join him now.
This is Ray Mossholder.
Terror and murder in the heart of Israel. Several Palestinian terror attacks this month already have killed one person and wounded more than a dozen others.
On Monday, Palestinian trained stone throwers attacked a tourist group outside the Lion’s Gate. A 60-year-old woman received head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. That was just the start of things.
Yesterday a graduate student from Vanderbilt University in America was murdered by a Palestinian Arab who was armed with a knife. That Arab stabbed people for twenty minutes.
One victim with a knife still stuck in his neck, exited the wine shop where stabbings continued nonstop. The victim then returned inside the wine shop, pulled the knife out of his neck, and killed the terrorist who had stabbed him with the very knife he had used.
Yesterday morning, two Palestinian terrorists drove their car next to a public bus in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat.
Imagine a missile made and launched by Iran with the words emblazoned on it “Israel must be wiped out”. That happened yesterday.
Those words were written in Hebrew.
The timing couldn’t of been more on target. Vice President Biden is visiting Jerusalem.
These, though, aren’t the first two ballistic missiles of their kind that have been launched by Iran. They’ve done a series of missile tests recently.
After Joe Biden met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden issued this comment: “A nuclear armed Iran is an absolutely unacceptable threat to Israel, to the region and to the United States. And I want to reiterate something which I know people still don’t hear. If, in fact, they break the deal we have made with Iran, we will act.”
But testing missiles that could carry nuclear bombs, amazingly doesn’t violate the treaty John Kerry and President Obama signed with Iran.
Further, the United Nations Security Council lifted the ban on testing such missiles when the nuclear accord came into effect on January 16th.
Iran says its missiles aren’t designed to carry nuclear weapons and so their treaty with America doesn’t apply.
Iran’s current missiles can strike a target 1,240 miles away from the launching point.
Amir Ali Hajizdeh, head of the Revolutionary Guard’s aerospace division said that the tests are aimed at showing Israel that Iran can hit it.
Israel is within 660 miles of Iranian territory.
He continued by saying “Israel is surrounded by Islamic countries and it will not last long in a war. Israel will collapse even efore being hit by these missiles. We will not be the ones who started war, but we will not be taken by surprise, so we put our facilities somewhere that our enemies cannot destroy them so that we could continue in a long war.”
As early as World War II, the practice of writing messages on bombs began. It has never stopped. US missiles headed to be dropped on Isis or other Islamic terrorists, often fear the words “From Paris with love”, referring to last year’s terrorist attack in Paris.
A United States State Department spokesman said yesterday that he had heard reports about the missiles being launched. He said “If those reports are true, then I will take appropriate response at the United Nations or elsewhere.”
Ever since the Iran treaty was signed and billions of dollars were released to them, Iran seems to have delighted in thumbing its nose at both America and Israel. In January, Iran went aboard an American command boat and took 10 American sailors captive. They then held them for 15 hours.
The captain of the command boat apologized to Iran, saying that they were guilty of “misnavigating” into Iranian territorial waters. Those Iranians who took part in seizing the boat and holding our American sailors hostage, were given medals and great honor by the president of Iran for doing it.
Speaking of nuclear missiles, North Korea yesterday publicized a supposed mockup of a key part of a nuclear warhead, while Prime Minister Kim Jong Un boasted that his country has now developed a miniaturized atomic bomb that can be placed on missiles.
South Korea’s Defense Ministry disagreed that North Korea possesses such warheads. But he said that the photos and miniaturization claims were an “intolerable direct challenge” to the international community.
Tension runs high in South Korea because of the nuclear tests and long-range rocket launches earlier this year. It doesn’t help that North Korea on Monday threatened nuclear strikes on both South Korea and America because of the biggest ever wargames the United States and South Korea are engaged in from now until the end of April.
North Korea has boasted it has long-range missiles that could easily strike the United States mainland.
According to nuclear expert Whang Joo-ho of South Korea’s Kyung Hee University, the pictures in the photos released by North Korea couldn’t be a thermonuclear warhead. Otherwise Kim and the scientists who surrounded the so-called warhead wouldn’t stand so close to it because of the fear of radioactivity.
The welcome mat that Communist Cuba is laying out for president Obama’s visit will be totally red.
A lengthy editorial in Cuba’s Communist Party newspaper, that was carried in other Cuban newspapers as well yesterday, demanded that Washington stop meddling in Cuba’s internal affairs. It also said that Obama could do much more to change United States policy.
You might wonder why our president is going to Cuba. It’s because he can.
Besides, a professional baseball game is going to be played there while he is there. And our president loves watching baseball games.
Cuba has made it clear that they are not interested in making any changes in their nation at all. However, it carried a long list things like about America. Nevertheless, in order to restore diplomatic ties, President Obama has fully relaxed trade sanctions and travel restrictions to Cuba. He has extended the olive branch and Cuba wants to snap off its branches.
Among the things Cuba listed in their grievances, they began with the trade embargo. Republican leadership in Congress has blocked the trade embargo from being lifted.
Our president will be only the second president to visit Cuba since Fidel Castro overthrew its pro-American government in 1959.
Sky News in England, sister network to Fox News in America, now has a list of tens of thousands of documents that contain the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of the family contacts of Islamic State jihadists.
The list includes nationals from at least fifty-one countries, including England. The documents exist because those who joined Isis were commanded to give their most personal information to the terrorists.
A lot of the names include well-known people from England, the United States and Canada, who have been unmonitored and able to enter Syria to join the terrorists and then return home.
Sky News received this list on a memory stick that was stolen from the head of Islamic states internal security police, a group that insiders call the SS.
The thief was Abu Hamed, a former Free Syrian Army convert to Isis. He was one of their most trusted jihadists – so fully trusted by them that he was entrusted by them to be in charge of the stick and to protect the organizations core secrets.
Abu had become totally disillusioned with the leadership of the Islamic State which has now been completely taken over by Iraqi Baath party soldiers who have been loyal to Saddam Hussein.
The Sky News anchor met with Abu in a secret area of Turkey. Much was learned from this visit. Not only did Abu give him the memory stick, but he shared a lot of other information as well.
He says that Isis is leaving its headquarters in Roqqa to move into the central deserts of Syria and then Iraq. Iraq is were Isis began.
Abu also said that the Islamic State, the Kurdish YPG, and the Syrian government of Bashar al–Assad, are all working together against the moderate Syrian opposition.
Abu further said that Isis is refocusing its base of operations abroad and will soon be launching similar attacks to the massacre in Paris in Western countries. This is something security chiefs across Europe are warning about right now.
“Someone must have burned their hamburgers!” is the best the police in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, can come up with as to why a backyard cookout ended up with five people dead. Three others are in the hospital and a manhunt continues for two suspected shooters.
The murders took place close to 11 PM last night. When shots began, some of the partygoers attempted to escape through the back of the house, but then someone next-door began shooting them.
Neighbor Jackie Johnson said “I heard a constant rat-a-tat of about 30 gunshots. When I came out of my house, people were screaming and running, and bodies were laying on the porch.”
In a Wilkinsburg hospital this morning to wounded men are in critical condition, and a woman is in stable condition but was pregnant and has lost her baby.
Another neighbor said “This street is always quiet. There’s nothing but kids on the street. People’s lives taken like that, just on the drop of a hat. It’s just insane. And then needs to stop. It has to stop.”
Authorities were still trying to figure out this morning who the dead people were. And, again, the killers are still at large.
Wilkinsburg is in Allegheny County. It’s a borough of about 15,000 people, just east of Pittsburgh.
The bizarre is even more bizarre today. Last week, 30-year-old former Marine Kyle Odom shot a Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, pastor six times. The pastor wasn’t just any pastor he was Pastor Tim Remington who just the day before had led the prayer at a weekend campaign rally for Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz.
Police Chief Lee White said the pastor praying for Senator Cruz wasn’t related at all to the shooting.
Chief White told reporters “However it does appear that this was a preplanned attack and I will tell you that some details surrounding Mister Odom’s planning are disturbing.
I said that the bizarre gets even more bizarre today. That’s because the shooter was arrested yesterday at the White House!
Odom had just thrown unidentified objects except for a computer flash drive, over the White House fence when he was arrested.
Good news: Pastor Remington has regained consciousness and is talking with his family.
Things may be heating up. Liberal Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is at the White House today for a state visit to primarily discuss how to combat climate change.
Already this morning the United States and Canada have issued a joint statement agreeing to reduce methane emissions from oil and gas by as much as 45% from 2012 levels by 2025.
Methane is eighty-four times as potent as carbon dioxide. It is blamed by Obama as one of the major reasons for climate warming.
And President Obama is releasing more regulations to limit the admissions at existing oil and gas infrastructures for the very first time.
The two leaders are in the White House this moment locked in heavy discussion over a number of other issues involving both countries.
Later this morning, they will hold a joint news conference.
The opposite kind of news from Cleveland today. The first uterus transplant attempted in America has failed. The attempt was made on a twenty-six-year-old woman on February 24th. As late as Monday, the woman, identified as Lindsey, was able to appear briefly at a news conference and said that all was going great. but that suddenly changed yesterday.
A Cleveland Clinic spokesman told reporters “We are saddened to share that our patient, Lindsey, has experienced a sudden complication that led to the removal of her transplanted uterus.”
He said the hospital is investigating whatever caused the reversal. Nine more attempts at uterus transplants will take place there.
Lindsey said in a statement “I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude towards all of my doctors. The acted very quickly to ensure my health and safety. Unfortunately, I did lose the uterus to complications. However, I am doing okay and appreciate all of your prayers and good thoughts.”
If you been wondering what that whirling sound is up in the sky, it might be our own drones.
The Pentagon Inspector General says drone surveillance began as early as 2006.
Maybe this is the good news about that – the ACLU says they can find no fault in the extremely limited use of the drones.
FBI director Robert Mueller testified before Congress in 2013 that the drones are used only in certain investigations and he used these words about it – “We use drones in a very, very minimal way, very seldom.” So, that should be in a very, very minimal way, comforting.
Ronald McDonald isn’t smiling today in Stroke – on – Trent, England. Teenagers in that area are in a kaffufel with McDonald’s there. Teenagers are not allowed in that fast-food chain without being accompanied by adult supervision.
A McDonald’s spokesman stressed this is not a nationwide but explained the kaffufel. The ban went into effect after twenty teenagers at a Staffordshire McDonald’s had an all-out brawl with each other inside one of their restaurants. And evidently this wasn’t the first time it happened.
The spokesman continued “The few restaurants in question have regrettably experienced recent issues with antisocial behavior and, in consultation with local police, temporary restrictions are in place for the time being.”
A frequent customer at one of the McDonald’s in question said that because of teenagers McDonald’s fast food wasn’t fast. He explained the teenagers enter McDonald’s after school and by one drink. Then they sit for hours using the free Wi-Fi. They come in here because it’s cheap food.
The teenagers complain that they have nowhere else to go.
“The final four” is a well-known college basketball term, and every year it’s hard to predict the outcome. That’s true of another “final four” tonight for what is scheduled to be the Republicans final debate of 2016. I won’t go into any details on that because I plan to do Campaign 2016 today. There is a lot of news on that subject.
And – WARNING! – This final story may bug you!
Are there any kids watching who are wanting to get out of school for a few days? Evidently, it’s possible….if you really bug your school!
A Canton, Ohio, high school has been closed after custodians found four bedbugs in a high school building.
Jeffrey Talbert, who is the superintendent of Alliance City Schools, explained the decision to close the school was made to keep parents from worrying.
A Canton pest control company has gone over the entire building t this past week. They are spraying and people are praying to get the school back in session. classes will resume Friday unless new bugs are found.
Bedbugs are like vampires. They vant to suck your blood! They seldom go to school because they prefer warm bedrooms.
Their bites usually cause itching and welts.
Now kids, if you bug your school don’t tell them where you got the idea!
