Pastor Sam Cannady has run out of strength with God. When he was just a young kid he rescued, at great risk, the daughter of his father’s boss. But because she was covered in sand, little Sam and his friend, Paul, decided to wash her off. To do that, 7-year-old Joanna was told by Paul to take her dress off. She reluctantly did and then angry adults found them that way. Both the boy’s fathers were demoted by their boss and sent from Massachusetts to new offices in San Pedro, California. Sam, still haunted by that memory is contemplating leaving his role as pastor. The day he decided to leave the church for awhile at least and go to the West Coast, a television announcement revealed that Joanna’s rich husband had just died mysteriously while he was away on a business trip.
